Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on May 13, 2026.

Partially Conformant — WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Sushiato is actively working toward full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Partial conformance means that some content may not yet fully meet the standard. We are committed to identifying and resolving all remaining gaps

Our Commitment

Sushiato believes that every guest — regardless of ability — deserves equal access to our website, our menu, our locations, and our services. We are committed to continuous improvement of the accessibility of sushi-ato.com and to promptly addressing any barriers that guests may encounter.

This commitment extends beyond digital access. At each of our restaurant locations in Weston, Parkland, Plantation, and Doral, our team is available to assist guests with any needs during their visit.

Accessibility Work Completed

We have taken the following steps to improve the accessibility of sushi-ato.com:

  • Restructured the heading hierarchy across all pages so screen reader users can navigate content efficiently.

  • Added descriptive alternative text to images throughout the site, including all food photography, promotional images, and the site logo.

  • Implemented proper semantic navigation structure — all navigation menus use native list markup with distinct accessible labels, including the footer navigation columns.

  • Migrated all contact and inquiry forms to an updated form component that outputs correct, standards-compliant HTML markup for all form controls.

  • Replaced the platform's native menu category component with a custom accessible implementation that includes full ARIA tab pattern, programmatic focus management, and keyboard navigation support (arrow keys, Tab, Shift+Tab, Home, End).

  • Reviewed and corrected all call-to-action link text to ensure each link clearly describes its destination.

  • Set the page language attribute on all pages.

  • Reviewed color contrast across primary content areas and adjusted where needed.

  • Ensured all external links are reachable by keyboard and screen reader.

This statement reflects the current state of the site as of May 2026. We continue to review the site on an ongoing basis and prioritize accessibility in all future updates.

Known Limitations

While we have made significant progress, some limitations remain. We are actively working to resolve each of the following:

  • Keyboard focus indicator: The visible focus outline on some interactive elements may not meet the enhanced visibility requirements of WCAG 2.4.7 on all browsers. We are addressing this through CSS updates.

  • Skip navigation link: A mechanism to bypass repeated navigation blocks is not yet present on all pages. We are evaluating implementation options within our platform.

  • Online ordering: Our online ordering service is fulfilled through a third-party technology provider. We have formally reported identified accessibility issues to that provider and are actively monitoring the status of those reports. Guests who require assistance placing an order are encouraged to contact us directly by phone or email — we are happy to help.

Technologies We Rely On

The accessibility of sushi-ato.com relies on the following technologies being supported by your browser and assistive technology:

  • HTML5

  • CSS3

  • WAI-ARIA 1.2

  • JavaScript

The site has been tested for compatibility with the following assistive technologies: NVDA with Chrome (Windows), JAWS with Chrome (Windows), and VoiceOver with Safari (macOS and iOS). We support current and one prior major version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
